Current blooms in the yard and remodeling begins

 I promised my mom a little walk through the yard a couple weeks ago. So here we go! Just a few things blooming currently, but lots of foliage popping up everywhere!

 The clematis is a new one for this year.

 The red rhododendrons are the first to bloom in my yard.

 I made a few treats for the birds a few weeks ago. I used the recipe here.

 This year is a much better year for the rhododendrons in my yard, last year I had quite a few that didn't bloom.

 Loving this pale peach colored one!

 I will take you for another walk around the yard in a couple weeks... the wisteria is just beginning the leaf out!

 The hubby and I have been working towards a major remodel =)

 After weeks of trying to decide what we wanted, and blowing extending our budget...

 I think we finally have all our wants and wishes within budget. (fingers crossed)

Our contractor was going to demo it for us, but we needed to save some money, so we are going to demo as much of it as we can. Wish us luck, we need it! Ha!

Painted buffet, moss wreath and Easter mantel

 I finally finished up the Craiglist buffet! It turned out exactly how I wanted it to. It really fills the space nicely.

 I painted it ASCP Old White, distressed it, used some clear wax, added some new green knobs to the drawers and reattached the original pulls on the cabinets.

 I am just tickled with how it turned out!

 Even the chipped piece on the "curly"decoration looks good.

 I painted the inside of the cabinets with a mix of the bottom of the can of Old White and a sample size of Versailles. The perfect pale green.  Give me a few days to "fluff" a bit and I will show the space better.

 I also wanted to show this awesome wreath I bought. I know, I could have made it...

 But when I was visiting my local nursery, I discovered this wreath. As I was taking a closer look so I could make my own, the owner of the store came up and was sharing with me how an older woman makes them to supplement her income. Sooo, I bought one.

 I may still try to make one, I just love the thought of forest and ocean combined! One of the reasons I live where I do, I have forest and ocean :)

I realized I hadn't posted my Easter mantel. How long do you leave your Easter decor out? I think I will slowly start removing mine this week. I am ready for SUMMER! I spent the day outside doing some yard clean up. Made the first jar of suntea of 2012 and am really wanting to get marshmallows to roast tonight. Last night the hubs and I had our Easter dinner on the deck and watched the sun set. We will do that again tonight too! 

I took a walk around the yard and took some pictures for my mom, so mom that post is coming :)

Flying, flowers and bunnies

 The hubby and I finally had an opportunity to go flying this afternoon!

 It was a gorgeous day for it too! My first trip up in the plane this year. I was a bit nervous... it had been 6 months since I flew in our little plane. It was down for it's annual, then received a new paint job. (You can see the daffodil fields off in the distance :))

 I forgot to take my camera! Gah! So, luckily I had my phone... not the best pictures, but that's okay.

 Photo op! Hehe! We flew to a nearby airport and had lunch, yes cheeseburgers ha! $100 cheeseburgers anyone?!

 Then flew back home, right over the daffodils. The tulips are almost ready to bloom. They will be gorgeous next weekend if the sun stays.

 The last few days have been warmer and sunny, just what I needed to get my behind outside! I made a visit to my favorite garden store and purchased some plants and little bunnies. Then planted up some Easter baskets.

The little iron bunny almost looks like a chocolate bunny!

 I found these great striped pots at Lowes, thought they would be cute planted up with a little bunny for a few friends.

 I think I have a thing for bunnies! But I couldn't leave this one behind ;)

 I have a friend with a thing for purple.

 Another friend likes blue;)

 I made up a few Easter cards to accompany the pots.

I hope they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

Daffodils, hiking and icecream

 I spent a week at the end of March visiting my grandson Liam. My friend Jessica made the bunny ear hat for him for Easter. So cute! Thank you again Jessica! He is growing so fast! (9 months old).

 Last Sunday was the beginning of our area Tulip Festival. I knew the tulips wouldn't be out yet, but since I had the day to spend with the hubby, I coaxed him to take me to see the daffodils :).

 They are beautiful!

 We've had quite a bit of rain/snow this spring. As you can see from the huge puddles!

 The sun decided to peak out while we were there so we decided on our way home, to take a hike at one of our favorite lakes. Squires Lake.

 It is up hill all the way! But it is a short hike, and is just gorgeous!

 It has been a while since we have been able to get out and enjoy the beauty of where we live, it was much needed!

 The payoff at the top of all that uphill climb!

 I am not sure what these are, I love them. They grow wild all around here. They have the sweetest smell!

 The hike around the lake takes you through more woods, streams and of course the lake.

 Last year when we hiked, this part of the trail was dirt, this year it is moss.

Afterwards, we headed home for some snowcrab, baked sweet potatoes and salad for dinner. Then decided to have sugar-free Black Cherry ice cream for dessert down in Fairhaven. YUM! It was a perfect day with my hubby.
