The hubby and I have gotten to do some traveling in our little airplane the last 4 weeks.
We had the chance to fly to Southern Colorado, for a family reunion.
As you can see, I spend most of my time taking pictures from the air =)
 It calms my nerves.
My mom lives in Pagosa Springs Colorado, where we all convened for a fun long weekend together.
Liam received his first haircut from me while we were there.

Our reunions are pretty small, so we try to get a group photo while we are all together. My nephew Cooper took these! He did an awesome job!
We also celebrated Liams 1st Birthday! My stepdad has a small train and tracks that go around their yard, so he took all the kids for rides!
Leaving Pagosa Springs the air was full of smoke from several wild fires.
 Somewhere near Moab Utah
 Getting close to home.
It was a fun 10 days, but glad to be home.
Koko still doesn't really like to fly much. Ha!
We were home for a few days then headed to Reno for a few days for Liams official 1st Birthday party!
Mimi and papa bought him a sand box! I think he likes it =)
Genna did an awesome job preparing for the party! She even made Liams cake (the block) and cupcakes!
Liam ate his cake so delicately it was adorable.
Uncle Adam came too!
Then we headed for home sweet home =)

We took a little time over the long weekend to take a couple little flights. Friday morning we flew to Port Townsend for breakfast.
It was a gorgeous morning, the start of a beautiful day!
We made great time with the tail wind! We usually average about 104, as you can see we were going 140!
We tore up the back yard the rest of the day. Saturday the hubby had to fly all day for work so I cleaned house... ugh! Well, you gotta do it sometimes I guess. When the hubby was done he surprised me with dinner in Friday Harbor! So off we went, with three other couples and 2 other planes!
 Again a gorgeous flight!
 And the water... gah! LOVE!
Friday Harbor is such an adorable little town, the ferry comes in frequently.
Lots of fun little shops, it is a short walk into town from the airport which is nice after a big dinner and a trip to the ice cream parlor for dessert =)
Unfortunately sunset was blocked by clouds... but the color on Mt. Baker was a pretty pink.
Perfect!

Yesterday I managed to clean up all the broken tile and concrete. I purchased the plastic tub at Lowes just for this purpose and it worked perfect!
Shortly after I finished my clean up project, the final tile order was delivered! Woohoo! The honed marble basket weave is here! 300 pounds! While I was extremely happy to see the tile... I may have been even more excited to see what else came with the delivery. The pallets! I have been loving the vertical gardens I have been seeing on Pinterest and in blogland... how about you? Now I just need a little sun and some time to create my own! The hubby and I are finalizing our bathroom renovation details, then hopefully my next post I will have pictures detailing those plans out. The third time is the charm, right?! Yes, this is the third time we will be meeting with our contractor to go over "the plans". And yes, each time has been with a different set of plans ha!
The hubby and I made a quick trip between sunbreaks yesterday afternoon to see the tulip fields beds.
Unfortunately, since we had to make our little unscheduled trip last week, we missed the peak bloom.
But I couldn't let a year go by and not see the tulips.
Last year we had our kids here, the hubbys mom and step dad and my mom, sister and sister in law all here within a 4 week time period to see the daffodils and tulips. This year we haven't had any visitors.
=(
Hopefully next year we can have everyone back again.
The beds at Roozengaarde were beautiful as always. Since the Tulip Festival is technically over, we had no crowds to deal with, which was so nice. I don't like traffic or crowds much.
The displays are so inspiring, I would love to do something like this in my yard.
It is so hard to choose which bulbs to order, I love them all!
These signs always make me giggle.
Love the idea of the tulips against the backdrop of the old fence.
 So pretty!
The yellow crown tulip is so different looking, I think it would be adorable in a bed with a frog wearing a crown!
The fringed tulips are funny looking too, remind me of a colorful venus fly trap. The one above is called Fabio.
It was such a fun afternoon walking through the tulips! Thanks to my hunny for taking me!
We didn't get a chance to fly over them this year, but a friend did and he snapped this incredible picture at peak bloom! Incredible!

Daffodils, hiking and icecream

I spent a week at the end of March visiting my grandson Liam. My friend Jessica made the bunny ear hat for him for Easter. So cute! Thank you again Jessica! He is growing so fast! (9 months old).
Last Sunday was the beginning of our area Tulip Festival. I knew the tulips wouldn't be out yet, but since I had the day to spend with the hubby, I coaxed him to take me to see the daffodils :).
 They are beautiful!
We've had quite a bit of rain/snow this spring. As you can see from the huge puddles!

The sun decided to peak out while we were there so we decided on our way home, to take a hike at one of our favorite lakes. Squires Lake.
It is up hill all the way! But it is a short hike, and is just gorgeous!
It has been a while since we have been able to get out and enjoy the beauty of where we live, it was much needed!

The payoff at the top of all that uphill climb!
I little photo op on a bench near the lake before beginning the 1 mile hike around the lake.
I am not sure what these are, I love them. They grow wild all around here. They have the sweetest smell!
The hike around the lake takes you through more woods, streams and of course the lake.

Last year when we hiked, this part of the trail was dirt, this year it is moss.
Afterwards, we headed home for some snowcrab, baked sweet potatoes and salad for dinner. Then decided to have sugar-free Black Cherry ice cream for dessert down in Fairhaven. YUM! It was a perfect day with my hubby.

Thanks for stopping by today!
